Consumer Prices in the U.S. Align with Expectations

Forex - In the United States, consumer inflation for October matched market expectations both on a monthly and yearly basis. According to data from the U.S. Department of Labor, consumer prices increased by 2.6% in October compared to the same month last year. The market expectation was also 2.6%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose in line with expectations, with markets anticipating a 0.2% increase, which was indeed the result.

Core inflation, excluding food and energy, rose by 0.3% monthly and 3.3% annually. Analysts had expressed that core inflation would show an increase of 0.3% monthly and 3.3% annually.

In the country, energy prices remained unchanged on a monthly basis, but declined by 4.9% annually, while food prices increased by 0.2% monthly and 2.1% annually.

In January, real average weekly earnings increased by 0.1%.
