Heavy Commercial Vehicle Market Shrinks by 17% in October
The heavy commercial vehicle market saw a decline of 17% in October 2024 compared to the same month last year, totaling 2,635 units. According to the Heavy Commercial Vehicles Association (TAİD) report, tractor sales decreased by 33% year-on-year to 1,026 units, sales of trucks over 16 tons dropped by 16% to 1,032 units, while sales of trucks under 16 tons increased by 44% to 577 units.
The heavy commercial vehicle market (trucks/tractors over 16 tons) increased by 12% compared to the average sales of October over the past 10 years. Whereas tractor sales decreased by 4% compared to the last 10 years' average for October, truck sales saw a rise of 35%. The total semi-trailer vehicle market experienced a 32% increase in October compared to the same month last year, reaching 970 units.
- January-October Period - During the January-October period of 2024, the heavy commercial vehicle market shrank by 11% compared to the same period last year, with total vehicle sales amounting to 31,221 units. Tractor sales fell by 28% to 14,595 units, whereas sales of trucks over 16 tons increased by 15%, totaling 11,880 units. Sales of trucks under 16 tons also rose by 2%, reaching 4,746 units. The semi-trailer vehicle market for the January-October period declined by 50% compared to the previous year, with sales reported at 6,339 units.
