Minister Işıkhan: "Positive Outlook on Employment Continues"

Minister of Labor and Social Security Vedat Işıkhan announced that employment rates showed a positive trend in September. According to Işıkhan, this increase in employment continues to demonstrate progress in line with the Medium-Term Program. The number of employed individuals rose by 95,000 compared to the previous month, reaching a total of 32 million 823 thousand. The employment rate also increased by 0.1 percentage points to 49.7%.

Işıkhan highlighted that these developments paint an optimistic picture for the country's economy, asserting that the increase in the employment rate is indicative of confidence in economic policies. He also noted that the government's efforts to boost employment are yielding results and stated that work in this area will continue.

Unemployment rate remains stable

Minister Işıkhan further announced that the unemployment rate has remained stable at 8.6%. He stated that the unemployment rate has continued to stay in single digits for the past 17 months, emphasizing that the increase in the labor force is promising for future goals. Işıkhan pointed out that this stable trend in unemployment has been balanced by growth in employment, despite an increase in labor force participation, underscoring the importance of maintaining this balance. He expressed that this situation, viewed as a positive sign for achieving future targets, is directly linked to economic stability.

Policies to increase employment will continue

Minister Işıkhan stated that policies aimed at increasing employment will continue to be implemented resolutely. He mentioned that employment policies, which are one of the cornerstones of the government's economic growth strategy, aim to provide job opportunities for more individuals. He also emphasized that these policies will be shaped to meet labor demand in various sectors.

In this context, Işıkhan expressed that innovative solutions and employment-supporting programs will be put into action, underscoring that more comprehensive steps will be taken to combat unemployment. Through all these efforts, sustainable economic development is targeted, with the aim of achieving broader labor force participation.
