UK Imposes New Sanctions on Iran Over Missile Supplies to Russia
Forex - The UK government has imposed new sanctions on Iran due to its provision of ballistic missiles and other weapons to Russia in support of the war against Ukraine. The UK Foreign Office announced that it would freeze the assets of Iran’s national airline and state-owned shipping company, which facilitated the transfer of these weapons. Additionally, sanctions will be applied to the Russian cargo ship Port Olya-3, which received the missiles from Iran. Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated before the announcement of the sanctions at the UN Security Council, "Iran's attempts to undermine global security are dangerous and unacceptable. Together with our international partners, we were clear that the transfer of ballistic missiles from Iran to Russia would receive serious repercussions."
