Japan's Leading Economic Index Revised to 109.1

The final data of Japan's Leading Economic Index, which measures the economic outlook for the coming months based on data such as job offers and consumer sentiment, was revised down from the initial forecast of 109.4 in September 2024 to 109.1. However, the latest figures rose from the previous month's final value of 106.9, which was the lowest since October 2020, as consumer confidence hit a five-month high. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate fell to 2.4% in September, marking the lowest level since January. While the service sector continued to grow in September, factory activities recorded the least contraction in the past five months, with easing price pressures.
