US senator worries about recession
A Senator Warren is worried that the Fed will push the US economy into a recession In the US, Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren said she is worried that the Fed will push the country's economy into a recession and that raising interest rates will put people out of work. Speaking to CNN, Senator Warren said, “You know what is worse than high prices and a strong economy? High prices and millions of people out of work. I am really worried that the Fed will push this economy into a recession.” Noting that much of the rise in inflation is due to supply chain problems, the COVID pandemic and the war between Russia and Ukraine, Warren said, “There is nothing that raising rates can do to deal with those, there is nothing in Powell’s toolbox for those.”
