BDDK Data: Credit Cards and Consumer Loans Rise, Decline in KKM Continues

According to the latest data published in the weekly bulletin by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK), the banking sector is exhibiting different dynamics in various areas.

Protection against currency fluctuations in TL deposits and participation accounts is decreasing. According to the BDDK data, the protected TL deposits and participation accounts in the banking system decreased by 26.44 billion TL from the previous week, recorded at 1 trillion 224 billion TL. At the beginning of the year, this figure was 2 trillion 626.35 billion TL.

There has been an increase in individual credit cards and consumer loans. The banking sector's individual credit cards rose by 11.58 billion TL compared to the previous week, reaching 1 trillion 688.1 billion TL. Consumer loans occurred at 1 trillion 919.3 billion TL, showing an increase of 405.55 billion TL since the beginning of the year.

Commercial and other loans are also increasing. The total commercial and other loans rose to 11 trillion 623.92 billion TL, marking a weekly increase. This data indicates a significant rise since the start of the year from 8 trillion 961.58 billion TL.

Total deposits and net general position: The banking system deposits were announced at 18 trillion 275.03 billion TL, showing a decline compared to the previous week. The net general position in foreign currency increased to 68.06 billion TL on a weekly basis; the value at the beginning of the year was 91.43 billion TL.

Changes in securities and foreign currency positions: Total securities were reported at 5 trillion 79.58 billion TL, showing a stable trend. The off-balance foreign currency position rose to 735 billion TL, while the on-balance foreign currency position was reported at -666.94 billion TL.

The increase in non-performing loans continues. The banking sector’s non-performing loans rose to 281.53 billion TL, indicating an increase of approximately 90 billion TL since the beginning of the year.
