New regulation on gold imports
It has been made mandatory to declare gold and silver imported under the inward processing regime (DİR) to the customs administrations. It will be mandatory for residents of Turkey to provide relevant information to the customs administrations for standard unprocessed gold imports not exceeding 40 kilograms. It will be mandatory to declare information about gold and silver imported under the Inward Processing Regime (DİR) decision to the customs administrations. The communiqués envisaging parallel amendments to the communiqué regarding Decision No. 32 on the Protection of the Value of the Turkish Currency and the communiqué regarding precious metal standards and refineries were published in the Official Gazette. According to the amendment made to the communiqué regarding Decision No. 32 on the Protection of the Value of the Turkish Currency, it will be mandatory for residents of Turkey who are not precious metals intermediary institutions to declare the form, type of ingot/bar, weight, number, refinery, and refinery country of the precious metal for imports not exceeding 40 kilograms of standard unprocessed gold or not exceeding 200 kilograms of standard unprocessed silver within the scope of DİR to the customs administrations. With the circular regarding the amendment of the circular on precious metal standards and refineries published in the same newspaper, the import of the said minerals was added to the fields of activity of the refineries.
