Turkey's Union of Municipalities and Istanbul's Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu announced the "Support for Capacity Building of NGOs in Disaster Risk Management Program" at a promotional meeting coordinated by the Civil Society Development Center, with support from the European Union. İmamoğlu emphasized that political identities should take a back seat in disaster management, highlighting the need for experts to play a leading role in these processes.

He asserted that crisis management should not be a time for political gain, but rather a period when society needs the most support. İmamoğlu also stressed the importance of expanding cooperation between the EU and Turkey beyond disaster management to encompass foreign policy, environmental issues, and defense. He expressed confidence that Turkey and the EU could write a strong history together, emphasizing the strategic significance of extensive collaboration for both parties.
