Trump threatened the EU with a 200% customs duty on alcoholic beverages.

US President Donald Trump has announced that if the European Union does not remove the customs duty on whiskey, a 200% tariff will be imposed on all wines and other alcoholic products coming from EU countries.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, "The European Union, one of the most hostile and abusive tax and tariff authorities in the world, was established solely to benefit from the United States and has imposed a disgusting 50% tariff on whiskey." He added, "If this tariff is not lifted immediately, the US will soon impose a 200% tariff on all wines, champagnes, and alcoholic products from FRANCE AND OTHER EU COUNTRIES. This will be great for wine and champagne businesses in the US."
