Meta Platforms will test the Community Notes feature on its platforms.

Meta Platforms (NASDAQ: META) has announced that it will begin testing the Community Notes feature on its Facebook, Instagram, and Threads platforms in the United States. The company anticipates that this feature, which allows a broader audience to provide context to posts, will be less biased compared to the third-party verification program it will replace.

Starting March 18, community participants will write and evaluate notes about content across the three platforms. Approximately 200,000 potential participants in the U.S. have registered to join the program. The Community Notes will be limited to 500 characters and must include a supporting link. Notes will only be published when participants with differing views largely agree they provide useful context, aiming to foster a more balanced discussion.
