BIST 100 started the day with a sharp decline: Numerous stocks were halted.

The BIST 100 index started the day down 0.53% at 9,758.53 points. Following the opening, the decline accelerated, with the index falling to 9,443 points, a loss exceeding 3%. In response to this sharp drop, Borsa Istanbul announced that "the upward step rule will be applied to short selling transactions in the stock market until the end of the session." Circuit breakers were initiated for numerous stocks during the initial trades.

Sector-wise, factoring, insurance, and banking played a significant role in the decline, with losses ranging from 3% to 4%. No sectors opened positively, while the least affected sectors—paper, construction, and trade—saw declines of around 1%. The BIST 100 index closed the previous day at 9,810.94 points, down 0.50%, with a record trading volume of 227.7 billion TL ($5.99 billion), accounting for 82.88% of total exchange trading volume.
