Neste shares fell due to a contradiction between EPA data and company expectations.
Investing.com -- Shares of Neste (HEL:NES1V) fell by 1% today following the release of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) monthly Renewable Identification Number (RIN) production data. The data revealed that there has been no Renewable Diesel (RD) imports to the U.S. for the second consecutive month.
The EPA data indicated a significant monthly decline of 23% and an annual decline of 50% in total D4 RIN production. These findings contradict Neste's recent statements during its Capital Markets Day, where it suggested that it could continue RD exports from its Singapore facilities to California. Neste reported selling 1.8 million tons of RD, representing 49% of its total sales in North America for 2024. The absence of RD imports to the U.S., as indicated by the EPA, could significantly impact Neste's sales volumes and EBITDA.
