Ekrem İmamoğlu is giving a statement: The investigation process is ongoing.

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu began giving his statement today at the Istanbul Security Directorate after being detained as part of an investigation into corruption and terrorism allegations. Reports indicate that several other mayors and municipal officials have also been detained in connection with the investigation.

A total of 106 detention warrants have been issued by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Among those detained are Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan and Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık. The questioning of 87 detainees is ongoing, and it is expected that they will be brought to court after the completion of their statements. The allegations against İmamoğlu include being the leader of a criminal organization, bribery, and aiding a terrorist organization, raising significant concerns about governance and accountability in Turkey.
