Raw steel production globally decreased by 3.4% in February, while in Turkey it dropped by 5.6%.
Foreks - The World Steel Association (Worldsteel) announced that global crude steel production decreased by 3.4% in February compared to the same month last year, reaching 144.7 million tons. According to data released by Worldsteel, China's crude steel production, the largest in the world, declined by 3.3% to 78.9 million tons.
In the same month, India saw a production increase of 6.3% to 12.7 million tons, while Japan's production fell by 8.5% to 6.4 million tons. The U.S. produced 6.0 million tons, down 7.0%, Russia's output decreased by 3.4% to 5.8 million tons, and South Korea's production rose slightly by 0.7% to 5.2 million tons. Brazil's output dropped by 1.6% to 2.7 million tons, Germany's production fell by 13.5% to 2.7 million tons, and Iran experienced a significant decrease of 21.8% to 1.7 million tons. Turkey's production also declined by 5.5% to 2.9 million tons. In the January-February period, global crude steel production remained at 302 million tons, reflecting a 2.2% decrease, while Turkey's production fell by 3.7% to 6.1 million tons.
