Midday on Borsa Istanbul: BIST 100 sees a rise exceeding 5%.
The BIST 100 index opened positively today, climbing to 9,811 points during the first half of the day, marking a 5.51% increase. This surge in the Istanbul Stock Exchange was triggered by the BDDK's easing of restrictions on share buybacks for banks. Following this decision, the banking index rose by 6.51%. As a result, the trading volume of the BIST 100 approached 100 billion TL by midday, while the non-BIST 100 index generated nearly 20 billion TL in trading volume with an almost 3% increase in the morning session.
Prominent stocks included REEDR, BIMAS, and SOKM, which reached their ceiling prices, making them the top gainers. In contrast, TKFEN, which had previously performed well, was the only stock in the negative, dropping nearly 5%. Major banking stocks like AKBNK and YKBNK saw gains between 4% and 5%, while THYAO increased by 3.2%. The banking sector's recovery accelerated following the BDDK's capital flexibility decision.
