According to Bostic, the Fed may only implement one interest rate cut this year.

Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic stated that he believes there will only be one interest rate cut this year instead of two, as increases in tariffs hinder progress in fighting inflation. Speaking with Bloomberg TV, Bostic noted, "I think inflation will be very volatile and that we won’t dramatically and clearly reach the 2% target, which is why I leaned toward a rate cut. Given this pushback, I think the appropriate path for policy will also need to be pushed back."

Bostic now anticipates that price increases will return to the Fed's 2% target at some point in early 2027, aligning with the forecasts released by his colleagues during last week's policy meeting. Following the TV program, Bostic emphasized in an interview with Bloomberg reporters that the uncertainty caused by President Donald Trump’s frequent policy changes complicates economic forecasts.
