The US has added dozens of Chinese companies to its export blacklist.
Foreks - The U.S. has added six subsidiaries of China's leading cloud computing and big data service provider, Inspur Group, along with dozens of other Chinese entities to its export restriction list. According to a statement from the Department of Commerce, the Inspur units were included because they contributed to the development of supercomputers for the Chinese military.
Among the subsidiaries, five are located in China, and one is in Taiwan. Inspur Group itself was also added to the list in 2023. The Inspur units are part of approximately 80 companies and institutions included in the export control list. More than 50 of these are based in China, while others are located in Taiwan, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates. The lists aim to restrict China's high-performance computing capabilities, quantum technologies, and advanced AI development, while preventing the advancement of its hypersonic weapons program. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick stated, "We will not allow adversaries to use American technology to bolster their militaries and threaten American lives."
