Supermarket sales in Japan declined after three months.

Foreks - Japan's chain stores have ended their three-month streak of rising sales, showing a decline in February. According to the Japan Chain Store Association (JCSA), sales in February dropped by 0.3% compared to the same month last year, following a 0.9% annual increase in the previous month.

Sales also fell by 8.8% compared to the previous month, bringing the total revenue for chain stores to 97.1 billion yen. Calculated without accounting for changes in the number of stores, supermarket sales saw an 8.0% annual decline. While food product sales increased by 3.2% and home goods sales rose by 1.5%, clothing sales experienced a decrease of 3.0%. These figures are based on prices from 9,445 stores belonging to 47 companies. The number of stores increased by 16 from the previous month but decreased by 1,429 compared to the same month last year.
