Improvement in Exporters' Sentiment Continues in Germany

Foreks - Exporters in Germany continued their recovery that began in February into March. According to the survey results from the Ifo Economic Research Institute, the export expectations index rose from a revised -4.7 points in January to -1.6 points. Despite this increase, the index has remained in negative territory for the past two years.

Ifo Surveys Director Klaus Wohlrabe stated, "There is a glimmer of hope in the export sector. However, future developments in global markets remain highly uncertain amid tariff threats." The survey indicates a significant rise in the number of sectors expecting an increase in international sales, with notable growth observed in leather products and beverages. The electrical industry is optimistic about boosting exports in the coming months, while the automotive sector's sentiment has shifted positively, though cautiously. Conversely, the food industry anticipates a slight decline in exports, and the outlook for the metal sector remains pessimistic, albeit less pronounced than in previous months.
