The Ministry of Trade has taken action against price increases by some producers in the red meat sector. In response to speculative price fluctuations and stockpiling allegations during Ramadan, the Ministry announced simultaneous inspections across eight provinces. These inspections aim to ensure consumers have access to products at fair prices and to prevent artificial shortages in the market.

In a statement, the Ministry highlighted that red meat supplied by the Meat and Milk Institution is being offered at reasonable prices in Per-Der member markets and ESK stores, but reports of price hikes from certain producers have been received. This situation disrupts market balance and violates free competition conditions, particularly disadvantaging consumers during Ramadan. The Ministry urges firms to align their pricing with cost factors and emphasizes a strict stance against speculative pricing and stockpiling practices.
