MARKET OVERVIEW - EMW assesses that the CBRT may lower the policy rate by 250 basis points in April.

Foreks - EmergingMarketWatch (EMW) reported that they anticipate the Central Bank of Turkey (TCMB) will continue its monetary easing trend in its April meeting and may reduce the policy rate by 250 basis points due to the expected resumption of weekly repo transactions that were temporarily halted last week.

EMW added, "However, this outlook largely depends on how the political climate evolves following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor İmamoğlu." Despite the measures taken by the Central Bank, EMW noted that the currency basket has risen by approximately 4% this month. "This dynamic is likely to increase March inflation, but a more significant impact will emerge in April. Additionally, as previously mentioned, food prices have risen in March due to adverse weather conditions and Ramadan. Together, these factors will exert additional pressure on the monthly inflation rate."
