Trump will offer tax cuts to China if TikTok is sold to an American company.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he could reduce certain tariffs imposed on China if ByteDance, the Chinese owner of TikTok, sells the platform to a U.S.-based company. Trump indicated that this move could encourage China to approve the sale of TikTok. He also mentioned the possibility of extending the April 5 deadline set for the sale of TikTok.
In his statements, Trump remarked, “China will need to play a role regarding TikTok, perhaps in the form of an approval, and I believe they will do that. Maybe I’ll offer them a small reduction in tariffs or something else to make that happen.” He emphasized the need for at least a preliminary agreement to be reached by April 5. The Trump administration continues to exert pressure on the TikTok process, highlighting the intertwined political and economic dimensions of the situation.
