Işıkhan: We are diligently working to increase our employment opportunities and effectively combat unemployment.

The Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, stated, "We are actively working to increase our employment opportunities and effectively combat unemployment." He evaluated the unemployment data released today by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) through a statement on his social media account.

Işıkhan noted that the unemployment rate has remained in single digits for the last 22 months. He shared that in February 2025, the unemployment rate fell to 8.2%, decreasing by 95,000 compared to the previous month and by 202,000 compared to the previous year. The number of employed individuals dropped by 149,000 to 32.314 million, with the employment rate decreasing to 48.8%. The labor force also saw a decline, dropping by 244,000 to 35.2 million, while the participation rate decreased to 53.2%. The country will continue to develop policies addressing its needs and combat unemployment.
