Bolat: The increase in the export of goods and services is preserving employment and reducing unemployment.
Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated that the increase in exports of goods and services has preserved employment and reduced unemployment. In his remarks via X, Bolat noted, "The number of unemployed has fallen below 3 million for the first time in 9.5 years, reaching 2 million 886 thousand. The unemployment rate for men stands at a historically low level of 6.7%, while for women, it has reached 11.0%, marking the lowest level in nearly 12 years."
According to the Labor Force Statistics released by TÜİK, the unemployment rate in February 2025 was 8.2%, the lowest in approximately 13 years. The average unemployment rate for the youth population in 2024 was 16.2%, the lowest in 12 years. In February 2025, the number of employed decreased by 149 thousand to 32 million 314 thousand. With effective export support and robust trade diplomacy, we aim to strengthen production capacity and contribute to economic growth.
