For the first time in 9.5 years, the number of unemployed people in Turkey has fallen below 3 million.

Trade Minister Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat shared positive developments regarding unemployment by evaluating employment data for February 2025. He noted that the number of unemployed people has fallen below 3 million for the first time in 9.5 years, recording 2 million 886 thousand individuals. The unemployment rate for men remained historically low at 6.7%, while the rate for women decreased to 11.0%, marking the lowest level in nearly 12 years. This is considered a significant advancement for women's employment.

Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat emphasized that effective support for exports and strong trade diplomacy have created crucial momentum that supports industrial production and employment. He mentioned ongoing efforts to strengthen domestic production and employment by intervening against unfair practices in imports. The Ministry of Trade is committed to advancing these successes and implementing policies that enhance innovation and domestic production capacity, contributing to the Turkey's employment and production-focused economic growth.
