The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) has imposed severe penalties on SZC TV, Tele1, Halk TV, and NOW TV channels as part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB). The sanctions include financial fines at the upper limit, suspension of five programs, and a ten-day broadcasting halt. The penalties were issued due to insults directed at state officials, calls for public uprisings, targeting local brands, undermining trust in judicial authorities, and attempts to exert pressure on these institutions.

During the RTÜK meeting, reports on broadcasting violations related to the ongoing "terror" and "corruption" investigations into the IBB were evaluated. The findings highlighted the airing of offensive language against public officials, as well as calls for protests that could disrupt public order. Additionally, channels that fail to acquire licenses within 72 hours face access restrictions, and repeated violations could lead to license revocations.
