People who cycle to work in Belgium will get paid

In Belgium, it has become mandatory to pay 0.27 euros per kilometer for those who cycle to work as of today. In Belgium, it has become mandatory to pay bicycle allowance for those who cycle to work with an agreement made between employers and employee representatives within the scope of the National Works Council. Accordingly, employees will receive 0.27 euros per kilometer from their employers if they cycle to work as of May 1. This allowance will be tax-free. An employee's daily bicycle allowance will not exceed 40 kilometers. Thus, the bicycle allowance will be limited to 10.8 euros per day. Employers were previously able to decide on the bicycle allowance. In this context, approximately 30 percent of employers paid their employees who cycled according to the distance between their homes and workplaces. The new practice is expected to further increase the use of bicycles in the country.
