Industrial production in Turkey remained unchanged on a monthly basis, increasing by 10.8% on an annual basis
The industrial production data, which shows the liveliness and economic outlook in the industrial sector, did not change on a monthly basis in April, but increased by 10.8% on an annual basis. According to TÜİK data, while industrial production could not show an increase compared to the previous month, when the sub-sectors of the industry are examined, the mining and quarrying sector index increased by 3.4% and the manufacturing industry sector index increased by 0.1% compared to the previous month. The electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector index decreased by 3.3%. Industrial production, which decreased by 1.8% in March due to the effect of the war in Russia and Ukraine, could not be productive in April either. However, the increase on an annual basis continued. Retail sales increased by 2.1% monthly and 14.7% annually. The increase in consumer inflation is also keeping sales lively. Industrial production is slowing down in many countries due to the effect of global price increases. High inflation in the country and the increase in the exchange rate are also putting pressure on the sector.
