G7 leaders to meet in online meeting
It was stated that the G7 leaders will meet in an online meeting. The main agenda of the meeting is expected to be developments regarding the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. The G7 countries, which have implemented various sanctions against Russia, are preparing to meet in an online meeting hosted by Germany today. The meeting emerged after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau included it in his official program. While there is no clear information on whether all country leaders will attend the G7 summit, the main agenda of the meeting is expected to be support for Ukraine in its war with Russia. Canada was one of the last countries to announce new sanctions against Russia. While the G7 leaders are preparing to meet on the Ukraine agenda, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's contacts continue. Zelenskyy most recently met with US President Joe Biden. In a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, US President Joe Biden stated that the US will continue to provide security, financial and humanitarian assistance. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen also said in a television program that "the US will provide as much support as necessary to Ukraine."
