Headline: Hybrid Cars Surpass Gasoline Vehicles in Market Share Across the EU

According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), new hybrid cars sold in the European Union in September accounted for 32.8% of total new car sales, surpassing the monthly market share of gasoline vehicles for the first time. Total car sales in the EU dropped by 6%. ACEA stated that total car sales decreased by 1% compared to the previous year, with key markets in Germany, France, and Italy remaining stagnant. Electric vehicles sold in the EU, including BEV, PHEV, or HEV, made up 56.9% of all new passenger car registrations in September, compared to 50.3% the previous year. Sales of battery electric vehicles increased by 9.8% year-over-year in September, although the sales volume has fallen by 5.8% year-to-date. Hybrid electric vehicle sales grew by 12.5% compared to the previous year, while gasoline vehicle sales dropped by 17.9%, reducing their market share to 29.8% in September.
