BIST 100: Today's Movements and Notable Stocks

The BIST 100 index moved with a seller-dominated trend today.

As the final hour approached, the BIST 100 was trading at around 8,850 points, down 1.7%. In the morning, the index briefly rose to 9,050 points, but after reaching this level, selling pressure led to negative movements throughout the day.

Towards market closing, sectors such as cement, sports, and tourism were among the few that showed an increase. The sectors that faced the most significant declines today included communication, trade, and factoring. Banks were slightly down by a little over half a point by the end of the day, while the holding sector experienced a loss exceeding 1%.

Conversely, the stocks that experienced the most significant declines towards the market close included: ALARK TOASO KOZAL AKSEN KONTR

Across Borsa İstanbul, INTEK, ISGSY, and PKENT reached their ceiling prices, ranking among the biggest gainers. The stocks that incurred the most losses today in the BIST included IHAAS, PSDTC, and TSGYO. EREGL, THYAO, and AKBNK shares remained the most traded throughout the day.

In the domestic currency market, the USD/TRY maintained a steady movement at 34.25, while the EUR/TRY increased by 0.25% to 37.32. Gold per gram fell by 1.6% today, decreasing to 3,021 TRY.

In international markets, after a mixed closure in Asian indices, European indices showed an acceleration in declines. The US markets also opened with sharp drops, with Nasdaq declining by 2% in the first hour, S&P 500 down by 1.3%, and Dow Jones falling by 0.75%.
