The contraction trend in white goods exports continues
According to the data of the Turkish White Goods Manufacturers Association (TÜRKBESD), although production in six main groups increased by 2 percent compared to the same period last year, the contraction trend in exports, which constitute 75 percent of the sector's sales, continued due to global developments. Exports decreased by 13 percent compared to the same period in 2022. Accordingly, the white goods sector, which reached its highest sales in 14 months in January, slowed down in sales in February. Production in the six main groups decreased by 5 percent on an annual basis in February and decreased by 2 percent in the two-month period. In February, sales in Turkey increased by 2 percent in 6 main products compared to the same period last year. The domestic sales increase rate in the first two months of the year was 13 percent compared to 2022. On the other hand, the contraction trend in exports, which constitute 75 percent of the sector's sales, continued due to global developments. Compared to the same period in 2022, exports decreased by 13 percent. Total sales, including domestic sales and exports, decreased by 7 percent to 5 million 7 thousand units.
