McDonald's reportedly preparing for layoffs
American quick-service restaurant chain McDonald's has reportedly temporarily closed its US offices this week and is preparing to lay off employees. The Wall Street Journal reported that the Chicago-based quick-service restaurant chain sent an email to its US employees and some international staff last week asking them to work from home from Monday to Wednesday. The news reported that the company asked its employees to cancel meetings with vendors at its headquarters and all other face-to-face meetings. The email stated that important decisions regarding positions and personnel across the company would be communicated in the week starting on April 3, but there was no information on how many people would be laid off. McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski had stated in January that some of the company's staff were planned to be laid off.
