Ukraine's National Bank Governor Shevchenko resigns
Kyrylo Shevchenko, the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, has resigned, citing health issues. The announcement on the National Bank of Ukraine’s website said that Shevchenko had submitted his resignation letter to President Zelensky. “I had to make this difficult decision due to health issues that I can no longer ignore,” Shevchenko, 49, said. Shevchenko’s resignation must also be approved by parliament. It was stated that the National Bank’s board of directors will continue its normal activities until his resignation is approved. Deputy Governor of the National Bank Kateryna Rozhkova is expected to take office after his resignation is accepted. The National Bank of Ukraine raised its policy rate to 25% in June, citing “changes in fundamental indicators” due to the war.
