Qatar Central Bank Governor Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani announced that the country’s financial situation is suitable for the local currency to be pegged to the dollar. Qatar Central Bank Governor Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saud Al Thani stated in his speech at the third Qatar Economic Forum held in the capital Doha that the liquidity policy in the US is compatible with the Qatari economy and finances. Al Thani said that the current environment is suitable for the Qatari riyal to be pegged to the dollar. Pointing out that global inflation affected many countries last year, Al Thani stated that inflation reached its highest level in decades but that there has been an improvement in the inflation rate in recent months. Al Thani stated that a balance must be established between price stability, development and financial stability. The third Qatar Economic Forum held in the capital of Qatar, Doha, began yesterday with the participation of more than 2,000 leading figures in the field of economics from around the world. The forum, organized in Doha in cooperation with Bloomberg Media Group, will end on May 25.
