Japan's retail sales decline

Japan’s retail sales in April fell short of estimates. Retail sales in Japan rose 5 percent year-on-year in April, government data showed on Wednesday. The data showed a sharp decline from the 7.2 percent growth seen in March and fell sharply short of economists’ forecasts of 7 percent. The Japanese yen strengthened slightly below the 140-mark, last traded at 139.71 against the dollar.
