US car app Lyft announces layoffs
The turbulence in technology companies in the US is also reflected in employment. Along with the news that Amazon is pausing corporate hiring, it was announced that Lyft will also begin layoffs. Mobile ride-hailing app Lyft announced that it will lay off 13 percent of its employees. In a letter sent to employees, Lyft co-founders Logan Green and John Zimmer stated that despite all efforts, they made the "difficult" decision to lay off 13 percent of the team. Green and Zimmer stated, "There are various challenges emerging in the economy. We are facing a possible recession within the next year and ride-sharing insurance costs are increasing." According to news reports in the US press, the decision made by company executives will affect approximately 683 employees.
