Japanese automaker Toyota Motor announced that global sales in July broke a record by increasing by approximately 8 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 859,506. The brand’s sales in Japan increased by approximately 35 percent to 1,025 units, while sales in China decreased by 15 percent to 152,717. Sales in the U.S. increased by 8.1 percent and in Europe by 17.8 percent. The statement emphasized that global sales and production increased by 6 and 7 months in July, respectively. Toyota’s global sales in the January-July period increased by 5.5 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching 5,797,140. Production in Turkey increased by 42.2 percent, reaching 17,546. On the other hand, Toyota Motor had to temporarily suspend operations at all assembly plants in Japan yesterday due to a malfunction in its production system. August production is expected to be affected by this suspension.
