Goldman's Fed Expectations
Goldman Sachs strategists see little chance of the Fed raising interest rates at its Oct. 31-Nov. 1 meeting. The Fed is unlikely to raise interest rates at its Oct. 31-Nov. 1 meeting, according to Goldman Sachs strategists. “In November, we think that a rebalancing of the labor market, better inflation news and likely upcoming fourth-quarter growth data will convince Federal Open Market Committee participants that a final hike this year is warranted,” Goldman Sachs strategists wrote in a report. But the strategists also expect the Fed’s dot plot, which reflects policymakers’ interest rate forecasts and is due to be updated on Wednesday, to show a narrow 10-9 majority still in favor of another hike, if only to maintain flexibility for now.
