Phones that are not used for 1 year will be turned off
According to the amendment published in the Official Gazette, phones that have not received a signal continuously for a year will be removed from the IMEI pool. Previously, the period was 7 years. The Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on the Registration of Devices with Electronic Identity Information was published in the Official Gazette and entered into force. Accordingly, the phrase “seven uninterrupted years” in articles 6 and 10 of the said regulation was changed to “one uninterrupted year from the last signal received”. This means that mobile phones that have not received a signal for 1 year will now be removed from the IMEI pool and closed for use.
