Developments in Russia were discussed during the Erdoğan-Stoltenberg meeting. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg over the phone. According to a statement made by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications, recent developments in Russia were discussed during the meeting. It was stated that the end of tensions in Russia prevented irreversible humanitarian disasters in Ukraine, and NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg was conveyed the wish that the developments in Russia would be a new milestone on the path to a just peace in Ukraine. Sweden’s NATO membership was also discussed during the meeting, and it was stated that Turkey’s constructive stance against Sweden’s membership continued, but that the legislative changes made were meaningless as long as PKK/PYD/YPG supporters freely organized actions in this country. During the meeting, it was emphasized that the injustices experienced in the context of the F-35 and the efforts to bind Turkey's F-16 request to Sweden's membership were harming NATO and its security, not Turkey.
