Cuban, US officials meet to discuss visas
Cuban and US State Department officials met in Havana to discuss expanding consular and visa services on the island. The meeting in Havana, the Cuban capital, was the latest in a series of talks between the parties, who have historically had troubled relations. Cuba issued a brief statement confirming the meeting. The US delegation was represented by Undersecretary of State for Consular Affairs Rena Bitter and Director of US Citizenship and Immigration Services Ur Mendoza Jaddou. The US Embassy in Cuba, which closed in 2017, has not been reopened, but officials said visa procedures will resume in January.
