Yellen: US Will Continue to Aid Ukraine

US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that they will continue to provide aid to Ukraine as much as necessary. There are signals from the Biden administration in the US that support for Ukraine will continue. Speaking on the “60 Minutes” program on CBS television, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said, “The US will provide as much support as necessary to Ukraine.” US President Joe Biden also gave similar messages in his phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. Biden stated that the US will continue to provide security, financial and humanitarian aid. The US pledged $38 billion in military support to Ukraine, and has implemented $13 billion of this. Yellen also touched on the price ceiling for Russian oil on the program and said that this implementation was progressing positively so far. Ukraine struggles with attacks on power lines Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated that the situation regarding the ongoing power outages due to damage caused by the attacks carried out by the Russian army on critical energy infrastructure in Ukraine is “serious.” Zelenskyy, addressing the public with a daily video message shared on his Telegram account, noted that power outages continue throughout Ukraine. Explaining that power outages continue in Kiev, Odessa, Lviv and other regions as a result of Russian forces' recent targeting of electrical infrastructures, Zelenskyy assessed the energy problems in Ukraine as "serious."
