Live Translation Feature Coming to AirPods - Bloomberg

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple Inc. is preparing a software update for its AirPods that will enable real-time translation of conversations in different languages. This innovation will be part of the AirPods software update expected later this year and will be associated with the new version of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 19.

With this new feature, for instance, an English-speaking user will be able to understand a Spanish speaker. The iPhone will translate the Spanish speech and relay it to the user's AirPods in English, while the English speaker's words will be translated into Spanish and played back through the iPhone. Other headphone manufacturers, like Google’s Pixel Buds, have offered this feature for some time, and although Apple's Translate app has been available on iPhones since 2020, this is a significant development for AirPods users.
