Foreks - The Desalination Complex at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), constructed by Russia's State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, has been commissioned. Comprising two modules with a capacity of 1,000 cubic meters per day, the complex will supply desalinated water for fire safety systems and general use at the Akkuyu NPP.

Seawater will be transformed into high-purity distilled water through evaporation and condensation in the complex's specialized evaporator facilities, leading to the production of ultra-pure chemically desalinated water. Equipped with a special mineralization unit, the Desalination Complex is designed to potentially produce drinking-quality water in the future. Sergei Butckikh, General Manager of AKKUYU NUCLEAR JSC, emphasized that this milestone is crucial for ensuring a reliable water supply and continuous operation of the plant following its commissioning.
