TÇÜD: In February, Turkey's crude steel production decreased by 5.6% year-on-year.

In February 2025, Turkey's crude steel production decreased by 5.6% compared to the same month last year, falling to 2.9 million tons. According to the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD), production for the first two months of the year also saw a decline of 3.7%, reaching 6.1 million tons. However, final product consumption rose to 3.4 million tons, marking an 18.6% increase compared to February 2024, with a total of 7.0 million tons consumed in the first two months, reflecting a 9.8% rise.

In terms of foreign trade, steel product exports in February 2025 rose by 3.2% in quantity to 1.2 million tons, though value-wise, it decreased by 6.4% to $790.1 million. Conversely, imports rose by 17.6% in quantity to 1.3 million tons, with a 3.8% increase in value to $940.1 million. The trade balance showed a decline in the export-to-import coverage ratio from 76.2% to 72.6% in the first two months.
