Investing.com — Yahoo has announced it will sell the technology news site TechCrunch to media investment firm Regent. The deal was revealed on Friday, marking another ownership change for the 20-year-old technology news platform.

TechCrunch is a renowned online platform providing news and analysis on global tech companies, startups, and entrepreneurs. It was part of Verizon Communications' media assets, which included Yahoo. In 2021, private equity firm Apollo Global Management purchased these media assets for $5 billion, later rebranding them under the Yahoo name. Regent, the new owner of TechCrunch, is actively expanding its portfolio of technology news sites, having recently acquired Foundry, the parent company of leading publications like PCWorld, Macworld, InfoWorld, CIO, and TechAdvisor. Financial details of the TechCrunch deal have not been disclosed, but it is expected to close in the coming weeks.
